Mom crochetting an afghan for the church bazaar - Mom made her daily walks profitable in a number of ways - first it was good for her health; it was also a social outing with her dear neighbors; and she gathered aluminum cans along the way and from the city's garbage cans, a latter-day bag lady she was - she then used the money from recycling the aluminum to buy yarn to crochet blankets to sell at the church bazaars for fund raising for the work of the church...






December 11, 1986. "I've been busy making afghans for a lady. She wants them before Christmas so I've been at them 12 to 14 hours a day. Hope to finish the last one soon, then she has another one she wants me to make for her. Also another lady wants one made too but she's waiting for K-Mart to have a sale. So am I......." The last family photograph taken with Mom in it - this was Thanksgiving 1999, when we celebrated the completion of Janet's new koi pond - Mom gave her blessings to the new addition to her home in Fresno - a Thanks giving day, indeed...
