| As Barbara and Gordon considered this day several months ago they thought of what they wanted in the way of celebrating their 50 years of life together. Something smallish and intimate, nothing too large or involved, simple. Ten years ago for their 40th anniversary they celebrated with a large invitation list because that touched their sensibilities at the time. Following Gordon's heart attack in October of '99 they felt life was too precious and unpredictable and wanted to celebrate their life's journey with friends and family, especially while Gordon was still around. For their 50th Anniversary they found a venue here in Eugene perfect for the celebration, King Estates Winery just outside of town that hosts gatherings such as this that has a nice feel and a menu that suited their tastes. They booked it for a mid-day meal with extended family here on Saturday the 5th. The meal and setting turned out to be just right, it was a fitting celebration, made all the moreso because it was with people with whom they share a mutual and intimate love, their family....See also below:
