Redwood Down

The mature redwood in our front yard had sustained a blunt-force trauma to its trunk sometime in its past, and according to arborist Lance over the years gradually began dying. He felt it wasn't long for this world, and in fact should this be a very wet winter with significant soaking of the soil around it, the redwood could topple sometime this winter. Its path of destruction would end with it smashing down onto our garage, and while it wouldn't likely take down the garage to the garage floor, it could do major damage - So wisdom dictated we have the redwood removed... So LJ Tree Care here locally came out to mercifully take down our majestic and beautiful redwood. If conditions would have permitted Lance would have used a crane, but as the redwood was set too far from the street a crane could not be used - So Lance climbed up into the tree, shearing branches as he went, and on reaching the top topped the tree and worked his way back down, cutting off 18-20 inch segments and lowering them down to awaiting son, Jason. Such mastery, such grace, such power. The final photo shows the damage done to the tree with roughly the right 2/3s being rotten and unstable...
