Positive of spirit, loving and gentle at heart, always a welcoming smile...

This was a rollercoaster ride of emotions for us as family - Cindy succumbed to cancer following several months of spirited fight - throughout she was a towering and positive spirit, with a will of iron clothed in velvet. True to her character, she remained steadfast in her attitude, one that was positive, inclusive of family and friends, with thoughts for the emotional well being of her family at the end - on January 20th she died peacefully at home surrounded by those she loved, and who loved her...
On Saturday, February 17th, her extended family, and her colleagues and fire department families of Carmel Valley and Carmel Highlands, celebrated Cindy's life and her extensive contributions to those with whom she had contact over the years. A theme was present in everything she did - bringing people together to address and solve problems, encouraging and facilitating teamwork, bringing together opposite sides to the benefit of both, and serving as the prime catalist in all such efforts. Regardless of whatever else was going on at any moment, there was always an irrepressable smile on her face to light any hint of darkness...

Cindy stood tall as a safety and prevention educator whose love of children and concern for their welfare brought her in contact with numerous classes of children throughout the area through her work with prevention and fire safety education...
Family members and colleagues and superiors from the fire department community, as well as dear friends, shared what was on their hearts in remembrance of this woman - deeply pained at her loss, yet were those present upbeat and enthusiastic over the legacy of love and cooperation and the always positive attitude she left with each of us. There were tears of sorrow, but more importantly there were tears in celebration of a life lived in love and concern for others, one filled with heart warming anecdotes and stories of lives touched by this gentle giant of a woman...

Safe journey, Cindy - Happy Trails...
