| This is our first Halloween in Eugene - it's so cool how that rolls off the tongue. We went out mid-month to Thistledown Farm to harvest our own pumpkins, and it turned out to be an exciting adventure for all the grandchildren - we got to walk across a mini-covered bridge, really mini-...! - took a ride out to the pumpkin patch in a horse-drawn trailer, and decided not to walk out there as recent rains had made the dirt road very muddy. There was also a haystack maze, which allowed the kids to run through the corridors and under hay bridges, and around blind corners and into dead-ends - great fun for them... |
The weather was only slightly cold when it came time on the 31st to go out for Trick or Treat, but this didn't slow the kids down one whit. We went around the neighborhood around Diana and Chris' home, and found many of the homeowners had done up their homes pretty well - there were a couple of homes with scary scenes and sounds out front, and the younger ones had to be carried for a bit, but Casey and Venice kept up a goodly pace even at those homes. Casey went as a medieval knight, Venice as a faerie princess, Xander as Anthony of The Wiggles, and Teiya as Po of the Teletubbies. |
