The three families initially gathered at the home of Diana and Chris for a Halloween meal, after which the grandchildren got dressed for their second annual Trick-or-Treat outing in Eugene - the excitement was high. Nana and Geepa had opted to remain at home to welcome Trick-or-Treaters in their neighborhood, themselves being the newest neighbors on their street. So, before hitting the Blacktail Drive neighborhood, the four grandchildren, with parents in tow, went to Nana and Geepa's to yell "Trick-or-Treat" on their doorstep. They were welcomed by Nana and Geepa, with a bonus treat of Uncle Carl and Aunt Tracy who were visiting for a couple of days. Casey went as Luke Skywalker of Star War's fame, Venice went as a Fairy-Mermaid, Xander as a Golfer, complete with knee socks and golf cap, and Teiya as a Walking Turtle - not just a Turtle, but a Walking Turtle. They made a quick stop at a friend of Venice and Casey, Shelby, around the corner and up a block from Nana and Geepa's... |
Back in the Blacktail Drive neighborhood, parents and Jiichan went out with the Trick-or-Treaters to roust the neighbors - Granny stayed at Diana and Chris' to welcome Trick-or-Treaters coming there while the rest of us were out on the sidewalks of the neighborhood. A number of the homes were really well decorated, which added to the delight of the evening - some of the residents were equally festive in their costumes with music and spooky noises piped onto their porches. The kids were valiant in their approaches to the homes, yelling "Trick-or-Treat" as the prospective donors opened their doors. The evening ended with the "booty count," as each child counted and sorted their treats by size, type, color, whatever - everyone's eyes were lit up just in the counting of the plentiful and dentist-loving haul of sweets....A bummer in looking at the photos for this year, which were essentially the same for last year - when the kids receive treats at the door, all you can see is their backs...! |
