Granny and Jiichan arrived in Eugene late afternoon on June 30th, and stopped off at Tori and Paul's place, where everyone had gathered to celebrate their arrival and their new community. We all went to the Fourth of July parade in Creswell, 20 minutes south of Eugene, where there unfolded a wonderful "small town" parade, including local fire departments, ambulances, tractors, and horse-drawn wagons. Local dignitaries rode in open convertibles, and bands marched to festive music. Later that night we celebrated our own Fourth with safe and sane fireworks in the driveway of Diana and Chris' home - some of the neighbors had some illegal fireworks, which enlivened the celebration. |
Xander loves physical activities, and the numerous local parks provide ample opportunity for him to climb, run and jump, and even jump from frightening heights off of some of the structures. One favorite place is at the Valley River Mall, where there is a children's play area installed by a local Mercedes dealership - Xander loves to climb on and jump off of these structures, too...
