| Because everyone in the family had completed their respective moves to Oregon several months earlier, there was no ceremony or pomp and circumstance with Granny and Jiichan's exit from their former home in Berkeley. Even the neighbors were apparently sleeping in - A Saturday with an overcast sky, it was suitable for one's parting with one's past - the sunshine came later. Departure time was a little after 7:00 AM. |
First stop, Redding to check out the Sundial Bridge - then, lunch in Weed. Since Jiichan had no images of grandchildren for this month, here is an "art moment" from our trek north - the bridge is an architectural marvel, and easy on the eyes. The California countryside along Hwy 5 is barren and "golden" - the final shots show a greener Oregon. So, on to Eugene, and new beginnings, a new community, and new adventures with family... |
