Granny and Jiichan arrived on the 30th of June, and began their stay in their new community at the home of Tori and Paul, celebrating their arrival with a family dinner - they would move back and forth in two week stints between there and the home of Diana and Chris, this continuing for some 6 months. But that's another story...
On the 4th of July all the families and children went to a parade to celebrate our nation's independence in Creswell, 20 minutes south of Eugene - it was a "small town" parade, with everything local to make it a festive event, including fire engines, tractors, and ambulances. |
That evening we had our own safe and sane fireworks in the driveway of Diana and Chris' home - and, to make it interesting some of the neighbors had some illegal fireworks that gave everyone a touch of excitement.
Jiichan reinstituted his Wednesday outings with Casey, something he'd done for some 4 years back in the Bay Area, but now included Venice. On tap were the Science Museum at the U of O, an interactive science program in Springfield called Mind in Motion, that unfortunately closed due to competition with Chuck-E-Cheese, and a bevy of local parks. |
