Venice came for the day and she and Casey had a sleep-over at Granny's and Jiichan's, their first together - it went very well, and both had a grand time - and, going to sleep at the appointed time made for a nice evening for Granny and Jiichan as well. Casey got into finger painting for the first time, really into it with messy hands, and had a ball - Venice being familiar with the art form also had a ball. We then made a trek to the Lawrence Hall of Science, a favorite of Casey's, and now a favorite of Venice - both went complete bonkers in the walk-through maze, and creative as they both are, made up a game within a game and laughted uproariously... |
The 4th of July found the Rocklin court abuzz with kids, decorated bicycles, a pinata which took some really hard beating to finally give up its treasured candy, a donut on a string eating, plenty of BBQ hotdogs and hamburgers, chips, fruit salad, a wading and splashing pool on the front lawn, and a parade of bikes - and, after dusk a fireworks display in the court. On the final day of the Berkeley and Alameda clan's Oregon trek, we all gathered at the Rocklin homestead, and Venice and Casey, with a little help, made sugar cookies and decorated same - the cookies fueled a spirited jumping session later in the day, to no one's surprise... |
