Teiya recently got her hair cut, a moment of intense crying, but it cleared her face, and it is such a delight to see her face. During Nana and Geepa's quarterly visit, Geepa put together a Radio Flyer wagon with some assistance from Casey - Teiya was the beneficiary of the maiden trial ride once this was completed, and she loved it. Mid-month the Berkeley and Alameda clans trekked north to Eugene Oregon, in part a vacation, in part an exploration of the area for a potential mass-move by the Northern California branch of the Nagai-Beyer-Bailey families to the area. It was most profitable, and Teiya and Casey benefited from child-care by Granny and Jiichan for the duration, while Tori and Paul did an extensive "grid search" of various neighborhoods of Eugene. A major highlight was this fabulous city park built with joint funding of the city fathers, a generous contribution by the Rotary Club, and several local businesses - a great park, and we all loved it... |
Teiya loved the mud and water play at the park, and later splashing in the hotel's pool - and a return visit to the fabulous park the next day. We took a walking tour of the downtown area of Eugene, and happened on their new municipal library - it is a magnificent structure, with an amazing children's section, and totally enthralled us all, especially Tori - Teiya liked it, too, but mostly because of the bright lights and spacious rooms which allowed her to ramble. There was an outdoor garden area just outside the children's section with wonderful children's "furniture" made with beautiful inlays on creature chairs, stools, and a beautiful mosaic mural on the ground with a quote from JRR Tolkein - I got only one chair with Teiya next to it - a missed opportunity....On our way home a rest stop in Ashland for some river play, and then on to Redlands for lunch at Denny's - then, a short leg to Rocklin for a partial day with the cousins... |
