| This was a full month, for sure - I caught Casey in a variety of locations for his episodes of reading, we hit the Christmas/Santa parade in Springfield and saw Santa on a fire department hook and ladder truck, and a host of other homey small town fare - went out to a Christmas tree farm north of the city to get our trees, had a couple of Jiichan Outings for bowling and a trip to a children's play area at the River Valley Mall, and Casey helped Mama wrap some gifts for a needy family sponsored by Crest Elementary School for the holidays. We helped decorate the Christmas tree at Tori and Paul's house, and Casey helped string the tree lights, and everybody participated in hanging ornaments. |
We spent late Christmas day and dinner over at Diana and Chris' - the kids opened presents, and the adults opened stocking stuffers. Tori's folks, newly arrived from Powell, Wyoming and new residents of Eugene, joined the festivities. Everyone made gingerbread houses, decorating them with sugar and spice, and a whole lot of candy....On the final Jiichan outing of the year, we went to see a magician at one of Eugene's public libraries - interestingly we met there a student and parent from Crest Elementary and another from Arts and Technology Academy...
