Casey had a friend from school over for a play date, and it went well - then, he and Teiya had a bare tenting party, with Granny fixing the living room furniture as huge tents...
After dinner one day Papa Paul took Casey, Teiya, Granny, and Jiichan to Hendricks Park, just east of the U of O - it has the sense, smell, and feel of Tilden Park in the Berkeley Hills, though it is much smaller - and whereas in Tilden Park you could walk for miles without seeing anything of civilization and be lost in wilderness, here you are a stone's throw away from city streets and houses and such - still, we had fun walking in amongst great trees and underbrush bathed in the smells and lighting of an early evening sun... |
On one of Jiichan's outings we returned to Skinner Butte Park, Casey's favorite, where he climbed on the blue whale, scaled the various climbing structures, and stood on the prow of the bench shaped like a ship, where he announced he bowed while on the bow...
Near Thanksgiving, Diana and Chris, Venice and Xander, were on an extended trip to Rocklin to visit their old neighborhood friends, and dear friend, Tracy and daughter, Kaitlyn.
