| The weather is turning, slightly - it is still warm much of the time, but trips to the parks have given way to indoor activities, like bowling and the Science Museum on the U of O campus. In mid-month we went to the pumpkin farm north of Eugene, to harvest pumpkins for the upcoming holiday - it included a walk on a mini-covered bridge, a ride out to the pumpkin fields in a trailer hauled by two horses, and picking one's own pumpkin, or pumpkins. A horse drawn trailor then picked us up and saved us having to walk back carrying our pumpkins. One Jiichan outing took Casey to Skinner Butte Park, where he morphed into a pirate, hunting buried treasure in the sand area - I helped him draw a huge "X" mark the location of the treasure.... |
Another outing was with Casey's family and Granny and Jiichan to a garden with special trees near Autzen stadium on the U of O campus - Tori was interested in seeing the varieties of trees that survive in the area, to identify prossible prospects for the family yard when they move into their own home...
The whole family came together at Diana and Chris' home for our Halloween gathering - after a sort of festive dinner, we hit the neighborhood for trick or treat taking sacks for the mounds of booty - and we lucked out, as there was no rain. Then, to top it off, Paul whipped up a special treat, Bananas Foster, to the delight of the adults - not so much, the kids... |
