This month's outings included a trip to the Lawrence Hall of Science to take in a magic, unicycle, and juggling show by two local magicians, and a trip on Amtrak to Sacramento to the train museum - we met cousins Venice and younger brother, Xander, there. The magic and juggling show was a hit, and Casey exhibited his animated arm-shaking and jumping response to the various acts - he was quite excited by the jokes and various acts. The magicians were good, and funny. We then spent time with the earthquake section of LHS, and in spite of the cold with wind-chill, Casey played outdoors for a good spell - Jiichan stood in the sun, protected somewhat from the chilly winds by one of the displays. We also returned to Jack London Square, where watching huge diesel engines is still a favorite past time... |
The trip to the train museum started early on a Thursday morning, with departure set from the Emeryville Amtrak station. What happened first was that we were told that the train was delayed, and we were going to be transported BY BUS to Sacramento...! - BUMMER...! - But Casey was fine with that, and said this was his first ride on a bus, so that saved this leg of the trek. We met Venice and Xander and Diana at the museum, and had a ball - Casey and Venice liked seeing all the toy trains upstairs, but were more intrigued with the large Thomas Train layout there for the kids - they played a long time there. Of course, the real and big trains were a hit, too. We did get to ride Amtrak back home. We tried to have a birthday celebration for the "3 Guys" who's birthdays are in January, but the calendar betrayed us - it's rescheduled for later... |
