Casey Benjamin Beyer Nagai

June 2006

Casey has a fascination with maps and the globe - he studies them a lot, and knows all the states and their capitols, as well as where many countries are in Europe and Asia, something I've gotten lapse with over the years. The sculpture he's climbing on is actually some sort of artistic rendition of a sun dial at the Lawrence Hall of Science - to Casey it's just cool to climb on. We spent Father's Day in Rocklin, and enjoyed the water to escape the triple-digit heat... Then Casey and Jiichan took a trek to the Golden Gate Bridge to check it out - we observed from the Marin Headlands, and then walked the span to the first tower. Casey has added bridges to his list of things he's interested in - his comment on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge is that it hasn't enough "humps" - it needs more, and this can only be remedied by lawyers in Washington, DC - what that means, and how he came about the thought is a mystery, though I have asked him - the bridge is just short some humps for his taste...
